You may have received a common scam email claiming your account is about to be upgraded, deactivated, suspended or deleted. These messages are phishing attempts designed to trick you into clicking a malicious link or providing your login credentials.
Common phrases in these emails may include:
- “Your email account storage is full”
- “We are upgrading our mail servers”
- “Your account will be suspended within 24 hours”
- “Confirm your email address to continue receiving messages”
- “Click here to avoid permanent deactivation”
These messages often use official-looking logos, urgent language and mimic the appearance of well-known email providers. While phishing attempts used to be filled with typos and poor grammar, many now appear polished and surprisingly accurate — convincingly imitating Microsoft, Gmail, Yahoo and others.
What the Scammers Want
- To steal your login credentials and access your inbox
- To impersonate you or reset access to other services tied to your email
- To send spam or malware from your account
